DVSC has signed Blaz Boskovic for 3 years. The 24-year-old Bosnian defensive midfielder played at the Croatian first-division team, NK Lokomotiva Zagreb in the previous season, where he was a regular starter. He scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in 33 matches.
Blaz Boskovic has previously represented the Bosnia-Herzegovina U21 national team. He was raised at Zrinjski Mostar and since 2022, he had played in the colours of Lokomotiva Zagreb. Despite his young age, he made 52 appearances in the Croation top-flight as he has excellent defensive skills in the midfield and can be deployed in multiple positions as well.
Zalán Bács joined DVSC as the Head of Community. He talked about his plans:
“I’ve been a Loki fan since I was born; my earliest memory is of a DVSC match, and my family are also die-hard fans—you could say I was born into this community. I previously worked at DVSC as a communications officer, where I focused on strengthening university ties, organizing community programs, and managing the club’s social engagement.
Over the past year and a half, as one of the main organizers of the MatchDay Festival, I’ve been working to build the Loki community. For the past two years, I have worked as a physical education and history teacher at Balásházy in Pallag, and I am currently a teaching assistant at the Institute of Sports Science Coordination at the University of Debrecen, as well as a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Management and Organizational Sciences. During my university years, I was also actively involved in building the student community. My work has always centered on community building, engaging young people, and strengthening the social role of sports. In the coming years, I have set the goal of making DVSC an even stronger presence in the daily life of the city and the region.
I would like to strengthen ties with local educational institutions and involve as many young people as possible in the life of the club. In addition, my goal is to build a more active, organized fan community, continuously improve the match-day experience, and launch new community initiatives that will strengthen the relationship between DVSC and the city in the long term. I believe that it is not only the fans who should be involved in the club’s day-to-day operations, but that this should work both ways. DVSC must be the beating heart of the city, serving as one of the region’s strongest community-building forces. I believe that DVSC is a shared value that unites our community—both on the field and beyond“.
DVSC’s managing director, Balázs Makray and sporting director Ádám Bogdán held an end-of-season press conference on Thursday at Nagyerdei Stadium. Naturally, the recently concluded season — which saw the club secure qualification for European competition — as well as future plans were among the main topics discussed. Ádám Bogdán revealed that the club’s new head coach, who will arrive from abroad, could be announced within the next two weeks.
Balázs Makray stated that the club can look back on a successful season after achieving qualification for European competition.
“This championship was more competitive and balanced than the previous ones, and our objective is for DVSC to consistently compete on the European stage every year. We have come through a turbulent season, and in many ways it is almost remarkable that the team managed to deliver such a performance under these circumstances. A year ago, we secured our first division status in a dramatic finish to the season, but the vision outlined by the ownership group that emerged at that time, did not work. Last autumn, significant resources had to be mobilised to navigate the difficult period, and we would like to thank the local municipality and the Tranzit Group, among others, for their support. Since January, we have had a highly credible majority owner who, in complete alignment with the people of Debrecen, guarantees sustainable progress and a promising future for the club.
The credit for the season that has just concluded unquestionably belongs to Sergio Navarro and his coaching staff, as well as, naturally, our players. DVSC exceeded the league requirements both in terms of the youth development minutes quota and the domestic player regulations, fully meeting all expectations in these areas. In three of the last five seasons, a DVSC player has been named as the league’s Breakthrough Player of the Year — namely Péter Baráth, Botond Vajda and now Tamás Szűcs — which clearly demonstrates that Loki continues its long-standing tradition of providing outstanding opportunities for emerging young talents. Finally, it should also be highlighted that the club’s average home attendance surpassed 7,000 last season, following a 14-year record,” Balázs Makray concluded.
Ádám Bogdán emphasized that he is extremely proud to be the sporting director of DVSC.
“I have always seen this role as very interesting, as I was able to observe at close hand for more than a decade in England how effectively football operations can function at the highest level. Hungarian top-division football needs to reach a level where clubs are capable of competing successfully on the international stage — first and foremost, of course, Loki, a club with strong traditions in this regard as well. I envision a successful team built around homegrown players, and after six months, I can confidently say that everyone at the club is working together in excellent harmony. There is a strong possibility that within the next two weeks the identities of the new head coach and several new signings will also be revealed. As for Balázs Dzsudzsák, we can clearly say that we would like him to continue with the club,” said Ádám Bogdán.
Balázs Makray added that DVSC is working at full speed on appointing the club’s new head coach, as well as further strengthening the squad. The UEFA Conference League qualifying draw will take place on June 17, which is also when pre-season preparations will begin, while the team will head to a training camp in Austria at the end of June to prepare for the upcoming challenges.
Upon the expiration of his contract, Amos Youga is leaving DVSC. The 33-year-old midfielder, who has also represented the national team of the Central African Republic, arrived in Debrecen in December 2024. He played a major role in staying in the league last season as well as this year’s fourth-place finish and qualification for international competition. Amos Youga made 32 league appearances for Loki, scoring 3 goals, and with his character and qualities he played an important role in the team both on and off the pitch.
We would like to thank Amos Youga for everything he did for DVSC and wish him a lot of success in his future career!
Since the parties were unable to reach an agreement, head coach Sergio Navarro and his staff will be leaving DVSC upon the expiration of their contracts.
The 46-year-old Spanish coach arrived in Debrecen in June 2025. Under his leadership, our team played a balanced and successful season, ultimately finishing in a respectable 4th place and qualifying for the Conference League play-offs.
Under Sergio Navarro’s leadership, Loki suffered only 8 losses in 33 league matches, recording 14 wins and 11 draws; his composure and professionalism helped the team overcome many challenges.
The Spanish coach and his staff—Alex Pallarés, Roberto Robles, Sergio Manas, and Abdelilah Abdeslami—have built an excellent community in the locker room, fostering genuine, strong team cohesion, and many players have also shown outstanding individual development during the season that has just ended. Under Sergio Navarro’s leadership, Loki defeated Ferencváros, Újpest, Paks, and Zalaegerszeg, and remained undefeated against Győr; the coach’s contributions to these achievements are undeniable.
DVSC would like to take this opportunity to thank Sergio Navarro and his staff for their work on behalf of the club and wishes them a lot of success in the challenges ahead!
DVSC hosted Újpest in the last, 33rd round of FIzz Liga. The stakes were high: qualification for European competition and, depending on the result of Paksi FC, even a place on the podium. Accordingly, despite the rainy weather, the stands of Nagyerdei Stadium were filled well. Due to injuries, Donát Bárány, Botond Vajda and Flórián Cibla were all unavailable. However, Patrik Demjén, Gergő Tercza, György Komáromi and Dorde Gordic were included in the starting XI.
This year the 26th Zilahi Award was presented, which is given annually to the best Debrecen player of the season. The award was founded in the 1999/2000 season by Géza Zilahi, brother of the brilliant former Loki player Zoltán Zilahi, who tragically died in an accident in 1970 at the age of 34. Before the match, representatives of the Zilahi family presented the traveling trophy to this year’s recipient, who was Tamás Szűcs. Congratulations to our 21-year-old midfielder!
Dominik Kocsis made his 50th league appearance for Debreceni VSC. Our 23-year-old winger has delivered outstanding performances this season and has scored several goals. Before the match, sporting director Ádám Bogdán congratulated him on the occasion of his 50th league match for the club.
The derby began with a moment of silence following the recent passing of László Fazekas, who died at the age of 79 after a long and serious illness. The former 92-time Hungarian international striker won nine league titles as a player of Újpesti Dózsa.
The opening stages of the match were somewhat scrappy, but DVSC soon took control of the match. In the 8th minute, Tamás Szűcs tested the Újpest goalkeeper with a shot from 17 meters, and shortly afterwards Debrecen found the breakthrough. In the 11th minute, following a right-wing corner from Balázs Dzsudzsák, the ball reached Josua Mejías on the edge of the six-yard box, and he guided it into the net (1-0).
DVSC continued to dictate play, delighting the home fans with several attractive moves. In the 20th minute, Bence Batik headed narrowly wide, and soon after Adrián Guerrero fired just over the bar. Újpest FC responded in the 25th minute through Krajcsovics, but Patrik Demjén produced a fine save. In the 31st minute, György Komáromi’s long-range effort was stopped by the visiting goalkeeper, while in the 41st minute, Mejías came close to scoring his second goal with a header. Although Mejías did not complete a brace, our team doubled their advantage in the 1st half. At the end of a beautifully constructed attack, Dominik Kocsis struck a first-time shot from 10 meters into the bottom-right corner, with György Komáromi getting the slightest touch on the ball on its way in (2–0).
Both sides pushed forward in the early stages of the second half. In the 64th minute, Patrik Demjén made a spectacular goal-line save to deny Matko’s close-range header, while at the other end, Dominik Kocsis headed just over the crossbar. As the match entered its final phase, Debrecen made several substitutions, bringing on Álex Bermejo, Márk Szécsi, and Soma Szuhodovszki, followed later by Dénes Szakál, who made his debut, and Fran Manzanara. In the 85th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Újpest, which Matko converted to reduce the deficit to 2–1. However, the outcome was never seriously in doubt, and DVSC secured a deserved and confident victory.
Loki capped off an excellent season with a victory over Újpest. The team finished fourth in the league and secured a place in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Conference League. Well done, guys!
Preparations for the 2026/27 season will begin in mid-June.
According to the coach
Sergio Navarro: I would like to thank the players, the supporters, and the club for the entire season. I’m delighted that we managed to secure qualification for European competition. Hajrá, Loki!
Zoltán Szélesi: Congratulations to Debrecen on their performances throughout the season. They fully deserve the opportunity to compete on the international stage. We played two very different halves. In the first half we were too timid, but after the break the substitutions improved both our mentality and our overall play. We created some chances, but overall the final result was fair.
Fizz Liga, round 33.
DVSC-Újpest 2-1 (2-0).
Nagyerdei Stadium, 9444 spectators. Referee: Bogár G.
Marco Rossi has announced the squad for the friendly matches of the Hungarian national team in June. Our midfielder, Tamás Szűcs, who has already made two appearances for the national squad, is among the best players.
The Hungarian national team will play two friendly games: on June 5, they will host Finland at Puskas Arena, while on June 9, they will clash with Kazakhstan at Nagyerdei Stadium in Debrecen. Good luck to our player!
Before the match, it was clear that a high-stakes clash awaited DVSC, who were fighting for the bronze medal and a spot in international competitions. On the first Sunday of May, our team took to the field away against Paks, a team driven by the same ambitions. Due to injury, Donát Bárány, Botond Vajda and Flórián Cibla were unavailable, while Dorde Gordic was suspended.Among the starting XI were Benedek Erdélyi, Bence Batik, and the 19-year-old homegrown player of Loki, Dávid Patai, who made his first appearance in the starting lineup.
To put it mildly, the match did not start well. In the very first minute, a handball by Josua Mejías inside the penalty area prompted a VAR review, which resulted in a penalty being awarded. Horváth converted it in the 5th minute, putting our team at an early disadvantage (1–0). However, our team did not panic: in the 7th minute, following a corner from Dzsudzsák, Mejías headed the ball on, and Ádám Lang turned and scored from 6 meters out (1–1).
As expected, the game continued with plenty of duels. In the 19th minute, Dominik Kocsis curled the ball over the bar. In the 25th minute, Paks took the lead again: Windecker delivered a cross from the right, and Böde arrived and shot the ball into the left side of the net from 7 meters out (2–1). There were many inaccuracies on both sides, but also plenty of fine moments.
Towards the end of the first half, Paks looked more dangerous, yet it was DVSC who managed to equalize. In the 44th minute, after a great attack, Erik Kusnyír floated the ball into the box, Dávid Patai got a touch on it, and Adrian Guerrero—arriving at the far post—fired into the bottom-left corner from 8 meters (2–2). The teams thus went on a break with a draw.
The second half began with attempts from DVSC, and in the 52nd minute, Ádám Lang’s shot was saved with a diving effort by the goalkeeper of Paks. After that, midfield play dominated for a while, before Paks took the lead again: in the 66th minute, following a scramble after a corner, Windecker scored from close range (3–2).
Márk Szécsi came on (later György Komáromi, Fran Manzanara, Gergő Tercza, and Máté Kohut, who made his debut), and Loki pushed to equalize for the third time. Unfortunately, this did not happen: in the 70th minute, the home side scored again, this time Silye shot into the bottom-right corner from 8 meters (4–2). That effectively decided the fate of the three points, and in stoppage time Zeke added another goal from 15 meters (5–2). The final standings will be decided in the last round.
The season continues and finishes in two weeks against Újpest at Nagyerdei Stadium.
According to the coach
György Bognár: Congratulations to my players! The difference in quality between the two teams was not as big as the result suggests, but I am very satisfied with our attitude. We deserved to win.
Sergio Navarro: It’s hard to evaluate the match when we conceded five goals. We managed to equalize twice in the first half, which is commendable. At the start of the second half we played better, but then the opponent scored from a corner, and after that we lost confidence. We have to learn from this match as well.

DVSC has prolonged Donát Bárány’s contract until 30 June2029.
Loki’s excellent homegrown striker, now a national team player, finished second in the Hungarian league’s top scorers list in the previous season, while in 2025/26, he scored 12 goals before his injury. The 25-year-old forward has so far made a total of 106 appearances in the NB I, all in the colours of DVSC, recording 38 goals and 16 assists.
Congratulations to our striker on the extension of his contract!
A high-stakes clash awaited the third-placed DVSC on Sunday evening, as they battled for the bronze medal and a spot in international competition, hosting the leader of the table, Győr. Donát Bárány and Botond Vajda were unavailable due to injury, while Patrik Demjén, Adrian Guerrero, Dorde Gordic and the young Flórián Cibla were included in the starting lineup.
The match began at a lively pace, with a true derby atmosphere thanks to the Debrecen supporters. Loki took the initiative, earning several corners and winning plenty of possession. In the 9th minute, Flórián Cibla’s shot already forced a save from Petrás.
The first fifteen minutes did not produce any major chances and there was an even battle on the pitch. DVSC played in an organized and effective manner, and when needed, our players defended with great commitment. In the 32nd minute, at the end of a fine move, Dominik Kocsis flicked the ball just wide of the goal, then Ádám Lang’s long-range effort was parried with some difficulty by the goalkeeper of Győr.
In the 38th minute, Dominik Kocsis hit the target again, but it still did not result in a goal. At the other end, however, Győr found the net: in the 39th minute, Vitális deceived everyone inside the penalty area and from 8 meters out on the right fired the ball into the right side of the goal (0–1). Loki thus went into the break trailing.
The second half began with attempts from Debrecen, though the match still lacked clear-cut chances. One such moment came in the 59th minute, when Josua Mejías headed wide from close range. Our team fought bravely against a strong team. In the 65th minute, Adrian Guerrero’s header was also dangerous, while at the other end Patrik Demjén made a brilliant save to deny Benbouali’s close-range header.
For the final stages, Fran Manzanara and György Komáromi came on (later Gergő Tercza, Dávid Patai, and Víctor Camarasa also came off the bench), and the equalizer came! In the 73rd minute, following Erik Kusnyír’s cross, Flórián Cibla arrived at the far post and headed brilliantly into the far corner from six meters (1–1). Our homegrown player scored again after his brace against Diósgyőr, and DVSC remained unbeaten against Győr in this season — this was their third draw.
The next match will be away against Paks on Sunday.
According to the coach
Sergio Navarro: I’m very happy with the team’s performance, I’m proud of the players. We are improving, and we were able to show that against a strong opponent. We didn’t manage to score the winning goal, but I’m still satisfied with our performance.
Balázs Borbély: The first half was a tactical battle; neither team wanted to take risks. We scored a fine goal before the break, and then we aimed to threaten from the counterattacks. That worked, but we couldn’t get a second goal and DVSC capitalized on a mistake.
Fizz Liga, round 31.
DVSC-Győr 1-1 (0-1).
Nagyerdei Stadium, 6554 spectators. Referee: Karakó F.
DVSC extended Benedek Erdélyi’s contract until 30 June 2029. The 20-year-old homegrown goalkeeper of Loki has proved his competence in NBI during the spring season. He saved the goal of Loki during 11 matches and got a call-up to the U21 national team too. Congratulations to Bendek Erdélyi on the extention of his contract!
“We are extremely glad that a young, homegrown goalkeeper has been able to integrate into the team so well and almost make people forget Ádám Varga, who performed strongly in the autumn. This is a huge compliment to Beni, and we are happy that the contract extension has been completed. All of this fundamentally fits into the concept that we have envisioned, as well as what we believe about the club’s past and future,” said sporting director Ádám Bogdán regarding the contract.
DVSC, fighting for a medal, visited Diósgyőr, who were trying to avoid relegation, in the 30th round of Fizz Liga. Goalkeeper Patrik Demjén, making his debut for Loki, was included in the starting lineup, along with Julien Dacosta and Flórián Cibla.
At the very beginning of the match, play was a bit lashing, but DVSC gradually took control in phases. In the 6th minute, Soma Szuhodovszki attempted a long-range shot, which missed the target, while at the other end, Pető fired wide in the 15th minute.
There were no big chances and the two teams were fighting against one another in the midfield. In the 29th minute, at the end of a nice action, Flórián Cibla had an opportunity, but he curled the ball over the bar from close range. Then in the 36th minute, he was involved again: after a pass from Amos Youga, Julien Dacosta broke down the right wing and delivered an excellent cross. Flórián Cibla arrived, and the ball ultimately deflected off his marker, Csaba Szatmári, into the right side of the net (0–1).
Obviously, our homegrown young player also wanted to experience the thrill of scoring, and in the 39th minute he found the net himself! This time, Botond Vajda provided the pass from the left, and Loki’s number 99 curled the ball beautifully into the far corner from 11 meters out (0–2). No more goals were scored before the break.
The second half also began with the attempts of Debrecen. In the 50th minute, Botond Vajda got injured and he was replaced by Adrian Guerrero. In the 52nd minute, DVSC extended their lead with another own goal: after Tamás Szűcs’s cross, the ball deflected off Márk Tamás into the left side of the net (0–3). Debrecen kept creating chances, and in the 58th minute, Sentic made a brilliant save to deny Julien Dacosta’s shot.
Dávid Patai and Víctor Camarasa came on for the final half hour (later Márk Szécsi and Fran Manzanara as well), and DVSC continued to dominate the match. There were still plenty of chances, and in the 79th minute, Dominik Kocsis scored from a rebound after an opportunity from Patai (0–4). Moreover, in the 90th minute, Flórián Cibla made it a rout with a well-executed header (0–5) and our team secured a confident victory. With this result, Diósgyőr was relegated, while DVSC moved into the top three and remained in the race for a medal as well as the qualification for international competitions.
According to the coach
Nebojsa Vignjevic: Congratulations to Debrecen. I feel sorry for the fans, the club and the city. We did not deserve to be relegated.
Sergio Navarro: I’m very happy with the win. We had a plan and it worked. It was important for us to score the first goal and we managed to do that. We created a lot of chances and ultimately scored five times. We’ll keep working and we’re ready for the remaining matches as well.
