Victory on the third preparation match: DVSC-TS Galaxy 3-2

After the 1-0 victory against the Romanian Ploiesti and the 3-3 draw against the Polish Cracovia, DVSC played the third preparation match in the Turkish training camp. The opponent of Loki was a South African team, the first division TS Galaxy. The technical staff divided the squad into two parts as our team was going to play one more match against the Slovenian Olimpija Ljubljana on Sunday.

On Saturday, among the starting eleven were the young Benedek Erdélyi, Csaba Hornyák and Máté Tuboly as well. Our team started the match well and in the 6th minute, Márk Szécsi already took the lead. After a left-sided cross, our striker shot the ball into the bottom left corner (1-0) and not long after, he doubled the advantage of the team, converting a penalty in the 12th minute (2-0).

In the 27th minute, TS Galaxy pulled one back by capitalizing on a lost ball (2-1). However, in the 44th minute, after a nice dribble, Alexandros Kyziridis set back the two-goal difference for the break by slotting the ball under the bar (3-1).

Loki made some substitutes for the second half and the play was less continuous due to the referee’s whistles for a lot of smaller faults. The South Africans missed two clear cut chances, but meanwhile, DVSC also led some dangerous attacks. In the 74th minute, Galaxy scored (3-2) but could not equalize later, so the score stayed the same.

The next match will be against the Slovenian Ljubljana on Monday, starting at 10 am.

The Polish team attempted shots from a distance, while Donát Bárány tried to make a header from close-range but the goals were not genuinely threatened. Our team led several attacks, we were dominating, and in the 10th minute, we took the lead at the end of a great action. Balázs Dzsudzsák passed the ball to Nimród Baranyai, who scored from from 9 meters (1-0).

Later on, Loki still controlled the game and played well occasionally. However, in the 24th minute, after a lost ball, Cracovia managed to equalize with a deflected shot by Rakoczy (1-1). Moreover, in the 39th minute, the Polish team scored again, when Makuch took the ball past Balázs Megyeri and capitalized on the one-on-one opportunity (1-2). No more goals were scored until the first break.

In the second half, both teams created some smaller and bigger chances. In the 57th minute, for example, Botond Vajda shot wide of the goal. At that time, the game was balanced, and during the final minutes of the second half, DVSC pressed their opponent but could not manage to equalize.

During the extra 30 minutes, it was mainly our team who possessed the ball and created several huge chances. The equalizer goal came in the 114th minute: after a beautiful attack, the young Tamás Batai scored from close-range (2-2). However, Cracovia had an answer to that too, when Smiglewski shot the ball into the net (2-3). The third DVSC goal came during the extra time, when Zsombor Bévárdi gave a nice pass to Tamás Batai, who converted it with one-touch (3-3). Thus, the score stayed a draw. DVSC signed a young Hungarian national team player!

DVSC signed the 23-year-old Soma Szuhodovszki. In terms of transaction value, this signing is a record in the history of the club.

The young central midfielder was raised at MTK, then as a champion of NB II, he transferred to Kecskemét in 2021 after playing in Monor, Tiszakécske and Győr. He was a key player at Kecskemét in the previous season, securing a silver medal with the team and earning a spot in the dream team of the season as well. Overall, he has made 46 appearances in the first division and scored 5 goals in the league.

Marco Rossi, the coach of the Hungarian national team, has also noticed his great performance, due to which he received a call-up to the national team this summer. In November, he made his debut as a substitute against Montenegro in the UEFA European Championship qualifiers, which ended with a 3-1 victory for Hungary.

Soma Szuhodovszki will join the team after the winter break.

Welcome to DVSC!

DVSC’s reaction to the judgment delivered by the ECJ

Debreceni VSC reiterates our position that European football’s future well-being can only be secured through clubs working together through ECA in strong partnership and collaboration with UEFA and FIFA. This will drive our focus in light of today’s ECJ ruling on the ESL case, which in no way endorses any so-called Super League project. Below please find an ECA statement on today’s Judgment:

ECA statement on ECJ judgment
21 December 2023

European Club Association (ECA), representing nearly 500 professional football clubs across
Europe, takes note of the judgment issued by the European Court of Justice today.
To be absolutely clear, the judgment in no way whatsoever supports or endorses any form of
Super League project.

Since the legal case was brought two years ago, major progressive governance reforms have
already been put in place across the ecosystem of football in Europe and worldwide, including
new UEFA rules for competition pre-authorisation; and in particular, reforms under ECA’s
Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Venture with UEFA, and FIFA (signed in September
and March this year). Through ECA, clubs today are already at the heart of decision-making in
relation to the competitions they participate in.

In short, the world of football moved on from the Super League years ago and progressive
reforms will continue.
Most importantly, football is a social contract not a legal contract – all the recognized
stakeholders of European and world football – spanning confederations, federations, clubs,
leagues, players and fans – stand more united than ever against the attempts by a few
individuals pursing personal agendas to undermine the very foundations and basic principles
of European football.

ECA will continue to work with UEFA, FIFA and all recognized stakeholders of football to
develop the game positively and progressively – founded on the principles of sporting
meritocracy, inclusiveness, open competition and genuine solidarity. These principles are at
the heart of ECA, and at the core of the European Sports Model, on which all levels of the
pyramid benefit and prosper.
