DVSC signed a contract with the 23-year-old Albanian defender, Jorgo Pellumbi. The player, who is 186 cm tall, arrived from the Croatian first division team NK Varazdin, and he has already joined the team. Jorgo Pellumbi was raised by the Albanian Skenderbeu and made his debut in the first team at the age of 19. Later on, he continued his career at the Croatian Varazdin. He played in 14 league matches in the colours of Varazdin as a key player during the fall season of 2023, scoring one goal and providing one assist. The young defender has more than 130 appearances in the Albanian and Croatian first divisions. In addition, he has regularly received call-ups to the Albanian U21 national team, playing in 15 matches for the youth national team, twice being the captain. Jorgo Pellumbi is also being considered for the senior Albanian national team.
I would like to thank you for your constant support and love for Loki!
We are now halfway through the season and we need your support for the rest of it as well!
On behalf of the DVSC Family, players, coaches, management and staff members, may I take this opportunity to wish you and your families a good start, healthy, happy and successful 2024!
DVSC signed the 23-year-old Soma Szuhodovszki. In terms of transaction value, this signing is a record in the history of the club.
The young central midfielder was raised at MTK, then as a champion of NB II, he transferred to Kecskemét in 2021 after playing in Monor, Tiszakécske and Győr. He was a key player at Kecskemét in the previous season, securing a silver medal with the team and earning a spot in the dream team of the season as well. Overall, he has made 46 appearances in the first division and scored 5 goals in the league.
Marco Rossi, the coach of the Hungarian national team, has also noticed his great performance, due to which he received a call-up to the national team this summer. In November, he made his debut as a substitute against Montenegro in the UEFA European Championship qualifiers, which ended with a 3-1 victory for Hungary.
Soma Szuhodovszki will join the team after the winter break.
Debreceni VSC reiterates our position that European football’s future well-being can only be secured through clubs working together through ECA in strong partnership and collaboration with UEFA and FIFA. This will drive our focus in light of today’s ECJ ruling on the ESL case, which in no way endorses any so-called Super League project. Below please find an ECA statement on today’s Judgment:
ECA statement on ECJ judgment 21 December 2023
European Club Association (ECA), representing nearly 500 professional football clubs across Europe, takes note of the judgment issued by the European Court of Justice today. To be absolutely clear, the judgment in no way whatsoever supports or endorses any form of Super League project.
Since the legal case was brought two years ago, major progressive governance reforms have already been put in place across the ecosystem of football in Europe and worldwide, including new UEFA rules for competition pre-authorisation; and in particular, reforms under ECA’s Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Venture with UEFA, and FIFA (signed in September and March this year). Through ECA, clubs today are already at the heart of decision-making in relation to the competitions they participate in.
In short, the world of football moved on from the Super League years ago and progressive reforms will continue. Most importantly, football is a social contract not a legal contract – all the recognized stakeholders of European and world football – spanning confederations, federations, clubs, leagues, players and fans – stand more united than ever against the attempts by a few individuals pursing personal agendas to undermine the very foundations and basic principles of European football.
ECA will continue to work with UEFA, FIFA and all recognized stakeholders of football to develop the game positively and progressively – founded on the principles of sporting meritocracy, inclusiveness, open competition and genuine solidarity. These principles are at the heart of ECA, and at the core of the European Sports Model, on which all levels of the pyramid benefit and prosper.
On Sunday, Loki started the final match of the year without the injured Alexandros Kyziridis, Botond Vajda, Christian Manrique and Dusan Lagator, who has been suspended due to his yellow cards. However, Debrecen fans were enthusiastic and came to Kecskemét to support the team. Among the starting XI were Alexander Mojzis, Hamzat Ojediran and Zsombor Bévárdi this time.
The pitch was in a really bad condition and the game started with the long-range attempt of Balázs Dzsudzsák in the 3rd minute. At the beginning, it was the fight that dominated. It was not easy to play football on this kind of pitch, so DVSC played in a different style and organization.
In the 12th minute, the home team had a big chance, Hamzat Ojediran had to block and Megyeri had to save the shots of Zeke and Horváth. It was quite difficult to build-up the attacks and Kecskemét was mainly dominating.
In the 24th minute, following a corner-kick, Donát Bárány shot over the goal from 16 meters, then the ball sailed over the goal following Oleksandr Romanchuk’s attempt. Towards the end of the first half, the game became more balanced, moreover, in the 36th minute, after Zsombor Bévárdi’s cross and Stefan Loncar’s header, we almost took the lead, but unfortunately, our midfielder missed the target. However, after a little scramble in the box, Márk Szécsi skillfully shot the ball from 11 meters under the crossbar during extra time (0-1). Thus, our team went on the break with an advantage.
The second half started with the attacks of Kecskemét, which were actually ineffective. There were no dangerous situations until the 60th minute, when Zsombor Bévárdi curled the ball over the goal from 15 meters. Our team was fighting and we were organized in the duels as well.
For the endgame, Andrija Majdevac came on as a substitute (later Nimród Baranyai, János Ferenczi and Máté Tuboly also came off the bench). DVSC tried to save their advantage, however, Kecskemét increased the pressure and managed to equalize in the 80th minute. At that time, Loki was playing with one man down as Alexander Mojzis got injured on the pitch, and after a cross from the left, Banó-Szabó shot the ball to the bottom left corner from 6 meters (1-1).
There were quite a few exciting situations in the final minutes as well but the score stayed the same, so the match ended in a draw.
According to the coach
István Szabó: The guys did their best. In the first half, we played better but we still conceded a goal. After the break, we played football with great enthusiasm but we made some substitutions. I feel that we deserved the draw, moreover, maybe we can say that we lost two points.
Srdjan Blagojevic: We could not see much football because of the circumstances but I’m happy as no one got injured. I asked my players to play in a simple way and it’s not that we are practicing during our training sessions. I hope that in the future the pitch will be in better condition in Kecskemét. I would like to praise my players because of their effort and energy. The result is realistic.
Kecskemét: Varga B. – Kiss B. (Banó-Szabó, 75.), Szabó A., Szalai G., Belényesi, Zeke (Leoni, 61.) – Meskhi, Májer (Szűcs K., 87.), Zsótér – Horváth K., Pálinkás (Tóth B., 61.). Head coach: Szabó István.
DVSC signed a professional contract with another young player, who has been raised at the DVSC Academy. The 18-year-old striker, Tamás Batai has already scored 8 goals in the second team of DVSC during the autumn season and made his debut in the first team at the beginning of December in Kisvárda.
Congratulations to Tamás Batai, we wish him good luck!
Due to injury, Alexandros Kyziridis and Botond Vajda were out of the squad but the others were ready to be deployed in the away game against MTK on Saturday. Thus, the technical staff had several variations, and this time Márk Szécsi was in the starting eleven.
At the beginning of the game, Loki took the initiative and in the 3rd minute, Demjén saved Domingues’ shot from 12 meters. Our team moved freshly, and in the 6th minute, the goalkeeper denied the long-range shot of Dzsudzsák as well as the close-range twirl of Donát Bárány later.
The superiority of DVSC was obvious, hundreds of fans from Debrecen cheered for the team. Our team was playing attractive football but we missed our chances. In the 22nd minute, János Ferenczi shot wide of the goal, then Demjén saved Dusan Lagator’s header. After the first 30 minutes, DVSC could have been leading, however, in the 33rd minute, MTK took the lead when converted a rebound (1-0). The score stayed unchanged until the break.
The second half started with the attacks of Debrecen, and the equalizer came in the 50th minute. Brandon Domingues deceived his defender on the left, passed to János Ferenczi, who delivered a good cross. The arriving Márk Szécsi then put the ball into the net from the centre on the long side (1-1).
Loki continued to control the game, and meanwhile, Máté Tuboly came on as a substitute (later Andrija Majdevac, Joao Oliveira and Ádám Bódi also came on). At this time, there were less chances, but in the 77th minute, Balázs Megyeri made a save after Stieber’s free-kick.
In the endgame, MTK scored again, with Stieber skilfully curling the ball into the right side of the goal from about 15 meters in the 83rd minute (2-1). Unfortunately, this goal decided the fate of the three points, even though based on the game, DVSC deserved much more. We will continue next week against Kecskemét.
According to the coach
Dávid Horváth: It is a valuable victory for us. The first half did not go the way we would have liked, so we had to make some changes during the break. We managed to succeed and finally, we could win due to a great individual performance. In the second half, we worked hard to compensate our luck in the first half.
Srdjan Blagojevic: Congratulations to MTK for the victory. It is hard to speak now because I think that considering the last period, we delivered our best performance today. The team played the way I want my team to play, but unfortunately, we lost the match. We controlled the game but we were not aggressive enough within the box. Even though it’s not pleasant to lose like this, I’m sure that we will win the next time if we play like we did today.
OTP Bank Liga, round 16.
MTK-DVSC 2-1 (1-0).
Új Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium, 2000 spectators. Referee: Bognár T.
MTK: Demjén – Varju, Kádár, Kocsis – Kata (Horváth, 74.), Végh, Thiam, Antonov – Bognár (Kosznovszky, 93.) – Ennin (Stieber, 74.), Németh K. (Spalek, 74.). Head coach: Horváth Dávid.
On Saturday evening, Loki stepped onto the pitch in Kisvárda, the second stop of the four-match away tour, supported by 200 fans from Debrecen. Due to injury, Alexandros Kyziridis and Andrija Majdevac were missing this time. The starting eleven was the same as in Zalaegerszeg.
The match started in a heavy rain and at the beginning, Loki was dominating. However, in the 17th minute, Meldin Dreskovic had to make a spectacular save to deny Ilievski’s clear-cut chance, shortly after which Christian Manrique shot wide of the goal from distance. In the 25th minute, Balázs Megyeri saved Navratil’s crashing shot but overall, there were no bigger chances and the tactical play dominated. It did not change until the break, although Ötvös hit the bar from long-range.
At the beginning of the second half, the play stayed the same and one goal could have decided the fate of the match. Loki tried to play more accurately, and in the meantime, Joao Oliveira and Oleksandr Romanchuk came off the bench (later Márk Szécsi and Tamás Batai, who made his debut in the first team, also came on), however, Kisvárda had more possession at that time.
In the 73rd minute, Donát Bárány’s shot was blocked, after which the home goalkeeper saved the header of Brandon Domingues. The endgame was more about Loki but no goals have been scored, so it stayed a draw. We will continue next week at the home of MTK.
According to the coach
Tamás Feczkó: We played in a tactical and disciplined way, we closed the spaces. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish our actions and score.
Srdjan Blagojevic: There was no high quality on the pitch today, the 0-0 draw is realistic. In the first half, the home team closed the spaces, due to which we suffered. After the break, we had more space but we could not provide more quality. We can play better and we have to play better.
OTP Bank Liga, round 15.
Kisvárda-DVSC 0-0.
Kisvárda, 2050 spectators. Referee: Pintér Cs.
Kisvárda: Kovács M. – Stefan, Jovicic, Széles, Alic – Ötvös (Rubus, 86.), Vida K. (Makowski, 68.) – Balogh N. (Camaj, 30.), Nikolov, Navratil (Lucas, 86.) – Ilievski (Mesanovic, 68.). Head coach: Tamás Feczkó.
On Saturday, Loki started their four-match away tour in Zalaegerszeg. Due to injury, the team could not count on Alexandros Kyziridis, Hamzat Ojediran and Andrija Majdevac, while Nimród Baranyai was missing because of illness against ZTE, led by their new coach Gábor Márton.
The match started in a really cold weather. At the beginning of the game, Loki had more possession but no bigger chances were created. However, in the 22nd minute, the home goalkeeper denied the 16-meter curl of Botond Vajda. Our team was obviously dominating but Zalegerszeg defended tightly, leaving little space for our players.
In the 38th minute, ZTE unexpectedly took the lead: after a defending mistake, Croizet easily scored from 8 meters (1-0), so the home team went on a break with an advantage.
Joao Oliveira came off the bench for the second half and Loki tried to play more dynamically. The attempt was successful and the equalizer came! In the 57th minute, Brandon Domingues dribbled down the left side to the baseline, passed the ball to the centre, where Balázs Dzsudzsák received it. He deceived the defenders, then shot from a sharp angle, from 7 meters into the far corner (1-1).
In the 63rd minute, Croizet shot over the goal but Loki increased the intensity and in the 67th minute, our team took the lead. Joao Oliveira deceived his defender on the right, then shot the ball to the centre, where it bounced off from Várkonyi to his own goal (1-2).
At the beginning of the final minutes, Márk Szécsi came on as a substitute (then Alexander Mojzis, Oleksandr Romanchuk and Máté Tuboly as well). DVSC tried to maintain its advantage, and it was successful. Loki secured important points and we will continue next week in Kisvárda.
According to the coach
Gábor Márton: In the first half, we were not brave enough but effective. In the second half, we haven’t had enough composure but I think that we did not deserve to lose.
Srdjan Blagojevic: Congratulations to my players for the victory, this success was important for us. We tried to control the match and ZTE waited for us to make a mistake. Their plan was successful in the first half, but after the break, we brought more energy and were better on the wings too. Thanks for the fans for accompanying the team on this long trip.

DVSC hosted Paks on the final match of the 13th round on Sunday evening. Due to injury, Hamzat Ojediran and Alexandros Kyziridis were missing this time. Among the starting eleven were Meldin Dreskovic and Christian Manrique, who have recovered from their injuries. Botond Vajda and Ádám Bódi were also on the pitch from the first minute of the match.
Before the game, the club’s management greeted Tibor Dombi on the occasion of his 50th birthday amidst the ovation of the fans.
The match started truly in the 4th minute, with a long-range shot of Ferenczi that rolled wide of the goal. Paks were pressing, while Loki tried to pay attention to the transitions but there were a lot of mistakes. In the 8th minute, Windecker shot over the goal from a good position, and then in the following period, the field play dominated.
The first bigger chance came in the 23rd minute, when Silye missed the target from 9 meters. Loki had no dangerous shots until the 32nd minute, when Donát Bárány shot wide of the goal from 13 meters. Then, in the 37th minute, Loki took the lead! After a good left-sided cross from Bódi, Stefan Loncar nodded the ball to Donát Bárány, who headed towards the goal from 8 meters. Szappanos deflected the ball, then Botond Vajda tapped it into the net from close range (1-0). No more goals were scored until the break.
At the beginning of the second half, in the 47th minute, Donát Bárány headed just wide of the goal. Shortly thereafter, Szappanos saved Stefan Loncar’s sliding attempt and then Meldin Dreskovic’s header, so the performance of Loki seemed to improve. At this time, our team were dominating more, and for the last 30 minutes, Zsombor Bévárdi and Oleksandr Romanchuk came on as substitutes (later Joao Oliveira, as well as Brandon Domingues and Andrija Majdevac also came for the endgame).
In the 74th minute, Balázs Megyeri made a brilliant save to deny the close-range header of Hahn. Szappanos did the same at the side of the pitch, when he denied the shot of János Ferenczi. During the endgame, the fight intensified (Balázs Dzsudzsák almost scored), and in the 88th minute, we earned a legitimate penalty for Zsombor Bévárdi being fouled but our team captain’s penalty kick was saved by the goalkeeper of Paks. During the eight-minute extra time, Loki saved its advantage and earned very important three points.
We will continue in two weeks in Zalaegerszeg.
According to the coach
Srdjan Blagojevic: It was a tough match. There was a big pressure on the team, because of which we didn’t make good decisions in the first half and lost a lot of balls. Paks showed why are they standing at the top of table, so it was not easy for us. In my opinion, it was the character of the team that made us win, the players put a lot of energy into the game. We can play better but I’m glad that we won. Thanks for the support of the fans during the whole season.
György Bognár: I’m angry because we did not deserve to lose. DVSC also played well but we had a lot of chances to earn points. In critical situations, decisions that were not favorable to us and seemed inexplicable were made, including the possibility of red cards or penalties.

In November, the Hungarian U21 national team will face two European Championship qualifiers. The two youngsters of DVSC, Botond Vajda and Nimród Baranyai, have been included in the squad of coach Zoltán Gera as backup players for now.
Agenda of the U21 national team:
2023.11.17. 21:00 Spain – Hungary Huelva, Spain
2023.11.21. 20:00 Hungary – Scotland Új Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium
DVSC continued the series of away matches at the home of Mezőkövesd on Sunday, which was the 3rd game of the team within 7 days. Due to injury and illness, Márk Szécsi, József Varga, Alexandros Kyziridis, Brandon Domingues, Alexander Mojzis and Máté Tuboly were missing this time. Among the starting eleven were Botond Vajda and Ádám Bódi too.
A lot of supporters from Debrecen accompanied the team for the game, our players could feel almost like they were playing at home. The match didn’t start well as Cseke took the lead for the home team with an 18-meter long-range shot already in the 4th minute, blasting the ball into the left side of the goal (1-0). Moreover, the second Mezőkövesd goal came in the 10th minute, when Cseri shot from 17 meters into the bottom left corner and the ball bounced off the post and went into the net (2-0).
Therefore, Loki faced a great challenge and tried to speed up. In the 17th minute, Stefan Loncar shot wide of the goal, while in the 21st minute, Balázs Dzsudzsák hit the crossbar with a 28-meter free-kick. DVSC took over the control and pulled one back in the 25th minute: after János Ferenczi’s cross, Donát Bárány beautifully headed the ball into the goal from 12 meters (2-1).
After that, we were still dominating but had a problem with the final passes at the end of the first half, so the teams went on a break with Mezőkövesd being in advantage.
Joao Oliveira came on as a substitute for the second half, and Loki tried to put a bigger pressure on the opponent. In the 55th minute, János Ferenczi shot wide of the goal from a first-touch. There were a lot of inaccuracies in the game, time passed but no dangerous shots happened in front of the home goal. Almost thirty minutes before the end, Zsombor Bévárdi and Christian Manrique came from the bench (later Andrija Majdevic also came on), and then the endgame followed.
During the endgame, Balázs Dzsudzsák had a chance but shot over the goal, then DVSC appeared to be in a numerical superiority after the dismissal of Pillár in the 81st minute. Yet, we could not equalize and the match ended with a defeat for us.
We will continue on next Sunday against Paks at Nagyerdei Stadium.
According to the coach
Attila Kuttor: The first half was ours, we deserved to be leading. We wanted to defend our advantage after the break and we managed to do that.
Srdjan Blagojevic: We didn’t enter well neither against Puskár nor Győr, and we tried to warn the players about that. However, we didn’t start well this time too. It basically decided the match, and we were missing energy in general.
