The first preparation match is over: DVSC-WOLFSBERGER AC 0-1

According to the schedule, DVSC already had a preparation match on Tuesday in the training camp in Austria. The opponent of Loki in Windischgarsten was AC Wolfsberger, a team that plays in the Austrian top division. There was an involuntary change in the squad as the injured Alexander Mojzis travelled home and Georgios Neofytidis joined the team.

Our opponent finished the 2022/23 season at the 9th place in the Austrian top division. We have already had a training match against them last summer, which resulted in a 2-1 defeat for us. This time, we were the first to threaten, in the 9th minute Dorian Babunski shot but the opponent’s goalkeeper made a brilliant save. The play of DVSC was spectacular and good at some moments but overall, the game was wavering. Both teams had some chances but there was no goal until the break.

At the beginning of the 2nd half, there were more inaccuracies, however, in the 54th minute, Balázs Dzsudzsák had a chance and the defenders cleared in the last second. After one hour, there came the substitutes and in the 66th minute, Donát Bárány headed just wide of the goal.

In the final minutes, DVSC was closer to scoring. In the 78th minute, for example, Donát Bárány almost made a header again. At the end, WAC scored and this goal decided the match. According to the plans, the next match of Loki will be on Friday against Linz.

DVSC signed professional contracts with three more talents

Our club has signed a professional contract with three young football players, who have been raised at the DVSC Football Academy. Bence Fábián, Bence Takács and Gergő Tercza are talented and hopeful players, who get the opportunity to make a great career due to their skills and diligence. This was announced by Balázs Makray, managing director of DVSC Football Academy and András Herczeg, technical director of the Academy on a press conference on Tuesday.

Bence Fábián is a 2004-born left-back. During the last 7 years, he has been playing at the DVSC Football Academy, while his previous club was DSI. Bence Takács was born in 2005 and has been a player of DVSC since the age of 5, so he has a Loki-heart for sure. He worked his way up the ladder and during the last season, he has played a significant role in the second team as a defensive midfielder. Due to his diligence and attitude, he is one of those players who progressed the most in the team.

Kevin Varga leaves DVSC

The parties discussed a possible continuation but it was the player’s wish to play abroad. Our club waited until the last minute for a joint deal but today it became official that the 27-year-old midfielder is leaving Loki.

Kevin Varga made 14 appearances in the Hungarian national team and returned to Debrecen from the Turkish first-division team Hatayspor, where he scored 2 goals in 12 games last season. Kevin Varga was training with the team until the team’s departure to the training camp in Austria.

We thank Kevin for everything and wish him all the best in his future career!

Victory against Kisvárda

Loki played the second the practice match of the summer preparation period at 18 pm. on Thursday behind closed doors at the DVSC Football Academy. The opponent was Kisvárda, a team playing in top division as well.

The match (2*60 minute) started in a scorching heat with both teams setting a serious pace right from the beginning. In the 2nd minute, we could have taken the lead immediately but after a great attack, Botond Vajda shot just wide of the goal. We posed a threat with two headers, at first Loncar, then Babunski could have scored but the goalkeeper of Kisvárda made the saves. In the 29th minute, after Loncar’s lost ball, Megyeri made a brilliant save and Szécsi’s attempt following the counter-attack missed the target. We created several chances, Ferenczi, Romanchuk and Manrique were all close to scoring but the teams went on a break with a 0-0 draw.

Both Loki and Kisvárda changed the line-up for the next 60 minutes. At the beginning of the second half, the biggest chance of the match so far was missed when, after Bévárdi’s cross, Mance headed from close-range but it hit the crossbar. The second part of the match didn’t bring many chances but a hard game. In the 102nd minute, Dreskovic made a foul inside the box, for which the referee awarded a penalty. Camaj stepped behind the ball but our goalkeeper, Milosevic made an excellent save. A few minutes later, the opponent’s goalkeeper deflected Balázs Dzsudzsák’s attempt towards the bottom right corner for a corner kick.

In the 115th minute, Loki took the lead when Balázs Dzsudzsák’s long-range shot deflected off an opposing player’s back and found its way into the net.

The practice match against Kisvárda brought huge pace, a great fight and 1-0 success for Debrecen. On Friday, the team has a training in Pallag, after which they will travel to Austria for the training camp on Saturday.
