Defeat in the final minutes: DVSC-Nyíregyháza 1-2

Loki hosted its ancient rival Nyíregyháza in a true derby atmosphere with packed stands in the 4th round of Fizz Liga. Ádám Lang could not play due to a minor disease, but Maximilian Hofmann and Dorge Gordic were among the starting XI.

Our player, Bence Batik has reached a great milestone, playing his 200th first-division match against MTK last time. He made that game truly memorable as he scored the winning goal. Balázs Makray, director of institutional and strategic relations, greeted Bence Batik on the occasion of his 200th match in NBI.

From the beginning of the match, the pressure was high and the play was continuous only at times. In the 11th minute, Kovács saved Dorde Gordic’s shot from 17 meters. Not long after, Tamás Szűcs unleashed a powerful shot, but it went over the bar. However, in the 16th minute, he did not miss the target. He shot the ball into the bottom left corner from 24 meters, thus, taking the lead for Loki (1-0).

In the next minutes, mostly DVSC’s will prevailed. In the 24th minute, the goalkeeper of Nyíregyháza made a brilliant save to deny Dominik Kocsis’ shot. At the other goal, Ádám Varga confidently saved Kovácsréti’s free-kick, then Dominik Kocsis curled the ball wide off the goal. Before the break, Adrian Guerrero had to be substituted and Botond Vajda came off the bench. Overall, our team played better and we deserved to go on the break with an advantage.

The 2nd half started with a Nyíregyháza goal. In the 47th minute, after a left-sided cross, Edomwonyi headed the ball into the left corner from close-range (1-1). The battle intensified and for a long time, neither of the teams could gain the upper hand. There were only a few chances and in the 59th minute, Dominik Kocsis hit the crossbar.

In the last 30 minutes, Loki dominated, Álex Bermejo and Dejan Djokic came on as substitutions. Later, Viacheslav Kulbachuk made his debut and Fran Manzanara also came off the bench. In the 68th minute, Kovács saved Batik’s header. In the final minutes, the guest team scored: after a feat from Ádám Varga and some turmoil, Keita shot the ball into the net from 8 meters (1-2).

The next match will be away against Puskás Akadémia on Friday.

According to the coach

Sergio Navarro: I’m satisfied with our play in the 1st half, we could have scored more goals. After the break, we also had a chance, but in the last minute, we conceded a goal after a rebound and it decided the match. That’s football. We did not deserve to lose, but obviously, we need to improve. Thanks to our fans for their support!

István Szabó: It was a very good match and it’s worth to play in front of such supporters. The match was eventful and we could make some changes after the break. The substitutions came on well. We are very happy and we had some luck as well, but I think that we deserved to win.

There’s a great future ahead of Pape Sissoko, who has joined DVSC. Welcome to Loki!

György Komáromi: It feels as if I’ve been here for years

György Komáromi joined DVSC at the beginning of August. The 23-year-old, 177 cm tall, former U21 national team player has already made his debut in Loki during the victory against Kazincbarcika. He talked about his first impressions to dvsc.hu.

“From the first minute, it felt like I had arrived into a family. The guys, both Hungarians and foreigners, have accepted me. I feel as if I’ve been here for years. I’m grateful to the boys and the staff for everything, I feel great. It was good to be on the pitch against Kazincbarcika. We came off the bench with Dorde Gordic when we took the lead for the second time, so obviuosly, our goal was to keep the advantage, which we managed to do. I felt that the others were looking for me with the ball, they trusted me, which felt great. I’m looking forward to Sunday’s derby, we have to win that game”, said György Komáromi, who feels at home in Debrecen.

“We could go around the city with my girlfriend, we went to the zoo, for example. Debrecen is a livable city, we really like to be here. We quickly found a suitable apartment and we totally feel at home. I feel good both physically and mentally. My only aim is to show myself and everyone, my teammates and the fans what I’m capable of and prove that I can help the team”, said our player, who can contribute a lot to the play of DVSC.

Balázs Dzsudzsák and Márk Szécsi among the best

DVSC secured a 2-1 victory over Kazincbarcika in the 3rd round of Fizz Liga with great individual performances. Balázs Dzsudzsák, who scored the winning goal, took a role in the first goal as well. Thus, he was included in the best team of the round both at Nemzeti Sport and Csakfoci. Márk Szécsi, who scored the first goal, was also among the best at Nemzeti Sport. Congratulations to our players!

More valuable points: Kazincbarcika-DVSC 1-2

DVSC, who started the season well, played against the newly promoted Kazincbarcika in Mezőkövesd in the 3rd round of Fizz Liga. More than 500 supporters accompanied the team on Friday evening, so the temporary home of Barcika felt almost like a home ground for Loki.

Besides Erik Kusnyir and Neven Djurasek, who have been injured for a longer time, Botond Vajda, Maximilian Hofmann and Amos Youga were also missing. However, everyone else was ready for the clash. Among the starting XI was Márk Szécsi, which turned out to be a great decision from head coach Sergio Navarro.

At the beginning of the 1st half, Loki took the initiative: the first bigger chance came in the 11th minute, when Dominik Kocsis headed wide off the goal from 13 meters. Kazincbarcika defended well and it was not easy to find free space. Nevertheless, we took the lead in the 19th minute. At the end of a great action, Márk Szécsi dribbled past his defender and scored a crashing goal under the bar from around 20 meters (0-1).

As the game went on, Kazincbarcika tried to step up their play, and the match became more lively. The home team created danger several times inside DVSC’s penalty area, though they rarely managed a shot on target. Our team occasionally regained control before the break, but in stoppage time Kazincbarcika equalized – from a throw-in, Haroyan glanced a header from six metres into the top of the net (1–1).

At the beginning of the 2nd half, DVSC dominated and the battle became more fierce with an increasing number of fouls. For a while, there were no real chances, but in the 61st minute, Könyves shot wide off the goal from 14 meters. In the 63rd minute, Loki was awarded a penalty as the goalkeeper Gyollai clattered into Donát Bárány inside the box. Balázs Dzsudzsák confidently converted the penalty in the 65th minute (1-2).

The new signings of DVSC, György Komáromi and Dorde Gordic came on for the final minutes, and later Fran Manzanara and Dejan Djokic also debuted. Both sides throw everything for the endgame, but the score remain unchanged and Loki collected another valuable three points.

DVSC remained unbeaten in the league, with the next match coming next Sunday against Nyíregyháza at Nagyerdei Stadium.

According to the coach

Attila Kuttor: We had a lot of chances, even more than Debrecen had. However, we could not use the decisive moments for our advantage.

Sergio Navarro: I am really happy for the three points as it is never easy to win in professional football. We still have to improve, but I’m satisfied with the players.

However, Adrian Guerrero made his debut in Loki.

The match was preceded by moments of celebration: the U19 and U16 teams of the DVSC Football Academy have won the youth Hungarian Cup and the latter has won the bronze medal in the league as well. Balázs Makray and András Herczeg greeted the cup-winners before the game. A moment of silence was held in memory of István Szűcs, the former excellent goalkeeper of Loki, who passed away at the age of 73.

In the next minutes, the play became more vivid, Álex Bermejo and Márk Szécsi came on. Later, Dorde Gordic, Gergő Tercza and Flórián Cibla also came off the bench. MTK tried to increase the pressure, but our players stood still. In the 76th minute, Dominik Kocsis curled the ball over the goal, while on the other side, Ádám Varga performed one feat after the other. The endgame was full of excitements: Jurina, then Dorde Gordic and Adrian Guerrero almost scored. At the end, DVSC earned a well-deserved victory after a huge fight.

The next match will against Kazinbarcika in Mezőkövesd next week.

According to the coach

Sergio Navarro: We are training hard and try to develop all the time. We played against a good team and in the first half, we were a bit nervous. It changed after the break, we could score, so I’m really happy for this win.

Dávid Horváth: Our performance was inconsistent, we had some good periods and some less convincing ones. We had the chance to take the lead and later to equalize, but we did not make the most of them. In the future, we can’t afford to waste our opportunities.
