The top scorer of the previous season, Dorian Babunski, will continue his career abroad at Swiss Grasshopper Club Zürich. The 26-year-old striker arrived at DVSC in January 2022 and played in 48 league matches in the colors of Loki, scoring 18 goals. Among his memorable goals, we can mention the one against Paks scored this spring (2-1), as well as the one during the victory in the away game against Ferencváros (3-1).
“On behalf of the club, I would to thank Dorian for his professionalism and commitment, for his passion that we saw on the pitch and for all those happy moments that we lived through together. I would like to express my gratitude for his important goals and performance in the colours of Loki, which also contributed to finishing with a bronze medal last season. We thank you for everything and wish you further success!”, said the sporting director Hayk Hovakimyan.
We thank Dorian Babunski for his contribution to the success of Loki, his great goals and wish him further success in the new club!
After three victories in the league, Loki stepped onto the pitch with an unbroken desire to win against MTK on Sunday afternoon at Nagyerdei Stadium. Botond Vajda and Joao Oliveira were out of the squad because of their injuries, while Erik Kusnyír was in the starting eleven as a left-back this time. Donát Bárány was also on the pitch from the beginning, with Alexandros Kyziridis and Brandon Domingues on the two wings.
The match started in a scorching heat, and what’s more, with a Loki goal! In the 7th minute, Donát Bárány stepped out from the circle of defenders with a fantastic pass, took the ball past the goalkeeper and confidently rolled it into the net (1-0).
However, MTK quickly responded and after a scramble following a corner-kick, Bobál scored from close range into the bottom left corner (1-1). Moreover, in the 13th minute, the guest team was already leading as István Bognár found himself in a one-on-one situation and he didn’t miss: he blasted the ball into the far corner from 13 meters (1-2). Thus, DVSC was at a disadvantage and had to strive for an equalizer.
There was a water break in the 34th minute, after which came the attacks of Debrecen: in the 26th minute, Stefan Loncar shot over the goal from 19 meters and in the 27th minute, Brandon Domingues also made a nice shot from close range but he missed it. In the final minutes of the first half, Loki was obviously dominating but no equalizer came until the break.
For the second half, Ádám Bódi and Zsombor Bévárdi came on as substitutes and DVSC tried to press MTK. In the 51st minute, Donát Bárány had a header, which was brilliantly saved by Demjén, then Antonio Mance and Márk Szécsi also came on. However, in the 63rd minute, Krisztián Németh dribbled everyone after an individual action and sharply rolled the ball into the net, strengthening the advantage of MTK (1-3).
Although there was still plenty of time left, the fate of the match was already decided and Loki suffered its first defeat in a long time. We will play our next match against Kecskemét on September 3, starting at 7.30 pm. at Nagyerdei Stadium.
According to the coach
Srdjan Blagojevic: Congratulations to our opponent, they deserved the victory but I think that we gave it to them as a gift. We were punished for our mistakes and it was difficult to come back after the two goals that we conceded. I don’t want to put the finger on someone concerning who made the mistakes, we have to continue the work in order to win during the next match. I still believe in the team.
Dávid Horváth: We achieved what we came for. We were confident and tough against a really strong team. I cannot be unsatisfied.
MTK: Demjén – Hej, Kádár, Bobál D. – Kovács M., Kata, Horváth A. (Thiam, 56.), Bognár I. (Stieber, 87.), Antonov (Kovács P., 73.) – Molnár R. (Zuigéber, 56.), Németh K. (Varju, 73.) Head coach: Horváth Dávid.
Goal: Bárány (7.), as well as Bobál D. (10.), Bognár I. (13.), Németh K. (63.).
Yellow card: Domingues (88.), as well as Hej (24.), Bobál D. (66.), Kádár (87.).
Georgios Neofytidis and DVSC part ways by mutual consent. The 23-year-old midfielder arrived at Loki last summer, he played in 10 league matches and scored 1 goal.
We wish Georgios Neofytidis good luck in his future career!
Dorian Babunski, the 27-year-old striker of DVSC, received a call-up to the North Macedonian national team. The national team of North Macedonia counts on him during the home game against Italy on September 9 and the away match against Malta on September 12 in the European Championship qualifiers. Dorian Babunski has already made 6 appearances in the national team of North Macedonia.
After the 4-1 victory against Kisvárda, Loki is still on top, winning three championship games out of three. No rest for the weary as our next match will be against the newcomer MTK on Sunday, August 27, starting at 15.30 pm. at Nagyerdei Stadium.
Tickets are available online at www.nagyerdeistadion.hu as well as the DVSC Shop, which is open between 2 pm. and 6 pm. from Monday to Friday, between 10 am. and 15 pm. on Saturday and from 10 am. on Sunday.
Our supporters created a fantastic atmosphere during the last matches and our team, which has had a great start, can rightfully count on the support of the fans against MTK as well.
Stefan Loncar, the 27-year-old midfielder of DVSC, received a call-up to the Montenegrin national team. Our player has already scored 3 goals in the current season. The national team of Montenegro counts on him during the away game against Lithunia on September 7 and the home match against Bulgaria on September 10 in the European Championship qualifiers. Stefan Loncar has already made 8 appearances in the national team of Montenegro.
During the championship game against Kisvárda on Monday, Erik Kusnyír was out of the squad because of injury, while János Ferenczi was back on track. Among the starting eleven were Nimród Baranyai, Brandon Domingues and Alexandros Kyziridis, so Loki was preparing for impulsive attacks.
The match started with a minute of silence: after a serious illness, Mária Garamvölgyiné Joó, the wife of our legendary coach Lajos Garamvölgyi, passed away at the age of 69. Her memory will be forever preserved by her children, relatives, friends and all members of the DVSC family.
At the beginning of the game, Loki was dominating and in the 3rd minute, the goalkeeper of Kisvárda saved Dorian Babunski’s shot from 12 meters. However, in the 7th minute, Loki was already leading: after a beautiful attack, Balázs Dzsudzsák gave a through ball to Alexandros Kyziridis, who broke into the box, evaded the defender and made a tremendous shot into the top corner of the near post (1-0).
After that, Kisvárda tried to play a more attractive style of football but our team’s dominance and control continued to prevail. So much so that in the 29th minute, Brandon Domingues had a big chance to score but the defenders tackled in the last moment. Consequently, in the 30th minute, Makowski unleashed a shot towards the goal from 18 meters, which hit the crossbar. In the final minutes of the first half, there were less chances and more play on the midfield, so the teams went on a break with a 1-0 score.
For the second half, Kisvárda made two substitutions, pushed their defensive line higher and tried to press. The equalizer came in the 52nd minute: from 12 meters out, Vida shot the ball into the net from the centre (1-1). A new situation emerged and more energy was needed for success.
At this stage of the game, there were a lot of inaccuracies in the play of DVSC and 30 minutes before the end, Ádám Bódi, Zsombor Bévárdi and Donát Bárány came on as substitutes. Our team took back the initiative, put some pressure on the opponent and in the 76th minute, Stefan Loncar was fouled inside the box, so Loki was awarded a penalty. Balázs Dzsudzsák capitalized on the rightful penalty and our team took back the advantage (2-1).
Oleksandr Romanchuk and Márk Szécsi also came on for the endgame, and Loki decided the match in the 84th minute. Balázs Dzsudzsák moved forward and passed to Stefan Loncar, who dribbled within the box and shot into the bottom right corner from 11 meters (3-1). In the 95th minute, Ádám Bódi shot a beautiful free-kick goal into the right corner of the goal from 25 meters, which was just the icing on the cake.
Loki is undefeated since the last 9 league matches, including the end of the previous season, and after the 4th round, DVSC is leading the table with 3 victories at home. Our next opponent will be MTK on Sunday, the match starting at 3:30 pm at Nagyerdei Stadium.
According to the coach
Srdjan Blagojevic: I would like to say thanks to my players, I’m aware of the fact how difficult it was to play today. There was a big pressure on the team because of the defeat against Rapid. We scored an early goal but could not increase our advantage until the break. The toughest part of the match was when we conceded the equalizer. At this hard moment, our ultras supported us, for which I’m really grateful as these are the periods when we need the most support. The penalty decided the match. The result is 4-1 but it was really tough, especially mentally.
Máté Gerliczki: Our plan was to place our defense high but this pressing didn’t work and we conceded an early goal. Afterwards, we organized our lines, knowing that we would have some chances. We started the second half well, we equalized and could even score more goals. Then came one mistake within the box and we lost the match at the end.
Kisvárda: Kovács M. – D. Kovacic (Ilievski, 83.), Jovicic, Széles – Camaj, Lucas (Melnyik, 73.), Vida K., Makowski (Spasic, 46.), Ötvös (Szőr, 46.) – Navratil, Mesanovic (Balogh N., 73.). Acting head coach: Máté Gerliczki.
Goal: Kyziridis (7.), Dzsudzsák (77. – from penalty), Loncar (84.), Bódi (95.), as well as Vida (52.).
Yellow card: Mojzis (45+1.), Loncar (84.), as well as Szőr (55.), Camaj (93.).
It has become official that DVSC will play the 4th round of the NBI, on 21 August, not in Kisvárda, but in Debrecen.
The reason for the change is that the team from Kisvárda, despite all the manual and mechanical effort and the help of experts, did not get the Várkerti Stadium to a condition to host the match in proper conditions.
Tickets for the match, which kicks off at 20:15 on Monday, can be purchased online at www.nagyerdeistadion.hu, at the ticket offices of the stadium, and at the DVSC Shop.
We are looking forward to welcoming our supporters!
The DVSC-Rapid return match of the 3rd qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League started in an unforgettable atmosphere, almost with a full house at Nagyerdei Stadium. János Ferenczi was still out of the squad because of his injury and our line-up was the same as it was in Vienna.
After the 0-0 draw of the first-leg match, the opponent started with an attacking play and in the 3rd minute, Burstaller headed just over the goal from 9 meters. DVSC tried to stay calm and play their own style. Rapid dominated the game and in the 15th minute, they even took the lead: after a lost ball, Seidl stepped out, broke away in clear-cut chance and confidently shot into the goal from 10 meters (0-1).
Loki tried to react on the conceded goal, in the 23rd minute, Joao Oliveira shot wide off the goal from 14 meters. The match became more equal, there was a tough fight on the pitch and the Austrians even got 4 yellow cards. In the 32nd minute, after the free-kick of Balázs Dzsudzsák, Dorian Babunski scored from close-range but it was an offside. In the final minutes of the first half, Rapid scored for the second time in the 43rd minute, when after a left-sided attack, the ball bounced off Oleksandr Romanchuk and found its way into the net (0-2).
In the second half, Brandon Domingues came on as a substitute and Loki tried to do its best. We were leading attacks and possessing the ball, we put the pressure on Rapid, still, the opponent scored: in the 51st minute, after a quick counterattack, Grüll dribbled even Balázs Megyeri and slid the ball into the goal (0-3).
Thus, the hope of qualifying to the next round was lost, and in the remaining time, DVSC aimed to finish the match in a nice way. Our team was fighting honestly (meanwhile, Alexandros Kyziridis, then Nimród Baranyai, Donát Bárány and at the very end, Antonio Mance also came on as a substitute), we had some smaller chances but were not able to compensate. Moreover, in the 72nd minute, Burgstaller capitalized on a rebound, further increasing the lead of Rapid (0-4). Bajic, who came on as a substitute in the 90th minute, scored one more goal and that’s how the match ended (0-5).
Rapid Wien qualified to the next round, with an aggregate score of 5-0. The next match of DVSC will be against Kisvárda at Nagyerdei Stadium, starting at 8:15 pm. on Monday.
According to the coach
Srdjan Blagojevic: Congratulations to Rapid, they were the better team today and deserved to qualify to the next round, I wish them good luck. I would like to say thanks for the fans, I know that it is not easy for them as well and I am sorry because of the result. It is a difficult and painful evening for us but we have to deal with this situation. Our current goal is to stick together and this will also serve as a test of how we react to the situation. On Monday, we would like to show who we really are.
Zaran Barisic: Congratulations to my team. We performed excellently from the first minute of the match until the end. We were focused and I’m proud of my players. It is not usual that we can perform so well against such a good team like Debrecen.
UEFA Conference League, 3rd qualifying round, second-leg.
The management of DVSC prolonged the contract of Christian Manrique. The Spanish football player arrived to Loki last summer from the Cypriot Olympiacos Nicosia and he became a key player at DVSC. Until now, the 24-year-old footballer played 22 league matches in the colours of Loki, gave one assist and scored one goal as well.
“I’m really happy to continue my career in Debrecen. I’m glad that the management trusts me and I owe a lot to the club. What concerns the future, I will give the maximum in order to reach our goals together,” concluded his words our Spanish player with great joy.
Congratulations to Christian Manrique, who signed a contract until 2025!
On Sunday, Loki started the championship game against Zalaegerszeg with a strongly rotated line-up and without the injured János Ferenczi. Among the starting eleven were Marko Milosevic the goalkeeper, Nimród Baranyai, Alexander Mojzis, who already made his debut in the colours of Loki in Vienna, as well as József Varga, Botond Vajda, Ádám Bódi, Donát Bárány and Brandon Domingues.
The match started with a minute of silence to bid farewell to our fellow supporter Gábor Leskó, who passed away after a prolonged illness at the age of 42. He had been a loyal supporter of Loki since 1995. We preserve his memory.
At the very beginning of the match, in the 2nd minute, Christian Manrique shot just wide off the goal; Loki was obviously dominating. In the 7th minute, Donát Bárány was close to scoring but his close-range shot was blocked. Our team tried to play their own style but Zalaegerszeg also had some attempts: in the 18th minute, Tajti shot wide off the goal from 15 meters.
In the second part of the first half, except for another opportunity from Tajti, not many significant chances were created at either of the goals. As it’s commonly said, the tactical aspect was the defining factor until the halftime.
Even though the second half started with the attacks of DVSC, in the 51st minute, Marko Milosevic had to save the header of Sajbán. In the last 30 minutes, Balázs Dzsudzsák, Antonio Mance and Alexandros Kyziridis came on as substitutes and Loki tried to put more pressure on the opponent.
In the final minutes, our players occasionally pinned Zalaegerszeg to their goal, in the 72nd minute, Kyziridis narrowly missed the right post, and in the 75th minute, Senkó caught Mojzis’s header. Erik Kusnyír, then Dusan Lagator also came on at the end, but Alexandros Kyziridis was the one who decided the match with his first goal in the ranks of DVSC. In the 84th minute, our winger broke through the middle, showcased excellent dribbles, advanced the ball towards the goal and then shot it into the right side of the net from about 15 meters away. What a beautiful goal it was! (1-0). DVSC preserved its advantage and earned three more valuable points.
Loki is undefeated since the last 8 matches, including the end of the previous season. The next game will be against the Austrian Rapid in the UEFA Conference League, starting at 9 pm. on Thursday at Nagyerdei Stadium.
Through the eyes of the coach
Srdjan Blagojevic: Congratulations to my players and thanks for the support of the fans. I would like to grab the opportunity to invite everyone to our match against Rapid on Thursday. The players deserved this victory as they have been putting a lot of effort during the training sessions. Sometimes we don’t play so great but we always try to do what we practice during the trainings. We started the match well, then we had a setback but we expected this as it was the first time when we played in this line-up. Due to the substitutes and tactical changes, we got closer to the opponent’s goal and I’m really happy that Alexandros Kyziridis scored.
Gábor Bóér: We didn’t start the match well but we could stabilize the team and were dominating occasionally. In the second half, I felt that we were maintaining good attacks but we had some problems with the final passes. We made two mistakes before conceding the goal. I feel sorry because my players did a good job.
OTP Bank Liga, 3rd round.
