Goals in the extra time, advancement in the Hungarian Cup: Csepel-DVSC 2-3

In the 4th round of the MOL Hungarian Cup, DVSC took the field on Wednesday away against the third-division Csepel, with a place in the last 16 at stake. Among the starting XI were the young homegrown players of DVSC, such as Benedek Erdélyi, Dénes Szakál, Dávid Patai and Flórián Cibla as well as Jocelyn Janneh and Bryan Adinany, who arrived at the beginning of September.

The match unfolded as expected from the very first minute, with Loki dominating possession. The first major chance fell to Bryan Adinany in the 10th minute, but after a cross from Julien Dacosta, he fired wide from eight meters. Sohan Baldoni came even closer with a header that crashed of the crossbar.

DVSC continued to increase the pressure, although Csepel also put up a spirited fight. In the 32nd minute, Flórián Cibla’s free kick struck the defensive wall, and shortly afterwards, the home goalkeeper saved a header from Rotem Keller. Then, against the run of play, Csepel took the lead in the 37th minute. László Tóth broke clear of the defence before slotting the ball into the left corner from 11 meters (1-0). However, the hosts were unable to save their lead as Vilmos Dénes equalised in the 42nd minute with a superb long-range strike from 18 meters (1-1).

The second half also began with DVSC attacks, and in the 47th minute, Dávid Patai fired narrowly over the bar. With half an hour remaining, Dominik Kocsis, Imre Egri and Ákos Szendrei were brought on. Shortly afterwards, Josua Mejías replaced the injured Julien Dacosta, while Sergi Samper also came on for the closing stages. DVSC’s inaccurate play nearly proved costly, as Csepel regained the lead in the 83rd minute. Following a counterattack, Bence Torda calmly converted a clear-cut chance to make it 2–1. Loki threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, and our team’s efforts paid off in stoppage time. In the 92nd minute, Imre Egri levelled the score at 2–2, before Dominik Kocsis struck the winner just a minute later, blasting the ball into the roof of the net in the 93rd minute. After a dramatic, back-and-forth encounter, Loki secured their place in the next round.

The next match will be on Sunday away against Puskás Akadémia in Felcsút.
