Dear Loki supporters, dear Hungarian football fans, dear MLSZ and Refereeing Committee,

The Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) has published its professional explanation regarding the three goals scored by our team but disallowed during the DVSC–Vasas OTP Bank Liga match. We believe we owe it to our players, our club and our supporters to respond to these conclusions calmly but firmly, while accepting the result of the match.

We do not agree with the professional explanations published by the MLSZ Refereeing Committee, either from a technical perspective or in terms of the approach arising from the spirit of football. We would also like to ask the abovementioned body to include in its review the elbow foul against our goalkeeper, Plamen Andreev, which was also examined by VAR, and to address the referee’s assessment of that incident as well.

Rather than going into further detail about the specific circumstances surrounding the three disallowed goals, we would like to put forward our proposals for the future.

Our proposals for the future

It has long been a topic of discussion among NB I clubs that communication between the teams and refereeing authorities should be made more open and constructive. We propose establishing a regular consultation process in which players, clubs, the MLSZ and the refereeing organisation can gain a mutual understanding of each other’s arguments, working principles and the background to individual decisions. Our aim is to promote more consistent, transparent and broadly acceptable decision-making.

We also propose a joint review of the technology currently in use and the positioning of the cameras. Appropriate improvements or reallocations could assist referees in their work and reduce the number of situations that cannot be determined conclusively from the available footage.

DVSC wishes to be a constructive partner in this process for MLSZ, the MLSZ Refereeing Committee, broadcaster M4 Sport and all other parties involved.

Our statement is intended to contribute to the development of the sport we all love, rather than to be directed against those who work within it.
