Loki faced FC Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday in the second leg of the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round. The starting lineup featured many young and academy graduates, with Benedek Erdélyi, Balázs Sain, Dávid Patai and Flórián Cibla all starting the match.

DVSC started the game bravely, but conceded a goal in the 3rd minute. Following Robert’s low cross from the left, Elyounoussi was able to calmly slot the ball into the net from the centre, around nine metres out (1-0). The match was played at a good pace and remained open, with Benedek Erdélyi making a great save from a deflected shot in the 13th minute. Shortly afterwards, he also denied Madsen’s attempt in a one-on-one situation.

It was not easy to contain the fast and dynamic Copenhagen players, but Loki did everything they could to do so and also looked to launch attacks whenever they had the opportunity. In the 39th minute, the home goalkeeper saved Rotem Keller’s effort from 18 metres. Before the break, only disallowed goals were scored, with no further valid goals added to the scoreline.

Dzsudzsák Balázs, Ádám Lang and Adrian Guerrero came on at the start of the second half, and Loki immediately equalised. In the 47th minute, Dzsudzsák Balázs took a free-kick from the right. No one managed to get a touch on his curling delivery, which found the bottom-right corner of the net (1-1).

The atmosphere at Parken soon became heated, with the home side appealing for a penalty after a challenge by Sain, but in vain. In the 57th minute, however, Leon Myrtaj’s sliding challenge was deemed worthy of a penalty by the referee, and Elyounoussi converted from the spot (2-1). Our players fought hard against the 16-time Danish champions, while the Loki supporters who had travelled to Denmark continued to support the team throughout the match.

In the 70th minute, Kaye Shedrach fired over from 17 metres. Then, in the 76th minute, following a header from Cornelius, Král struck the ball into the net from close range, extending the home side’s lead to two goals (3-1). Just two minutes later, Cornelius himself found the back of the net at the end of a quick attack (4-1). The tall striker scored again in stoppage time, making the final score 5-1.

The next match will be against Győr on Sunday at Nagyerdei Stadium.
