DVSC has started the 2025/26 championship at the home of Zalaegerszeg. Head coach Sergio Navarro started with 9 Hungarian players instead of the 5 that was “set out”. Due to suspension, Amos Youga was missing, while Fran Manzanara was out of the squad due to a smaller injury. From the new arrivals, Ádám Varga, Julien Dacosta and Josua Mejias were in the starting XI.
At the very beginning of the match, ZTE proved to be dangerous, but Ádám Varga saved Kiss’ attempt in the 1st minute. No other bigger chances were created in the 1st half and the play was stopped several times due to injuries. In the 19th minute, Donát Bárány’s header missed the target, but overall, midfield play dominated.
After a defensive blunder in the 23rd minute, Dénes took the lead for the home team: the young striker shot the ball into the bottom left corner from 6 meters (1-0). In the 37th minute, Tamás Szűcs tried to equalize, but the goalkeeper saved his 18-meter shot. In the 42nd minute, Loki was awarded a penalty as Botond Vajda was fouled within the box. Donát Bárány missed the penalty, Gundel-Takács dived and saved his shot. However, in the 44th minute, Balázs Dzsudzsák equalized with a crashing goal from 24 meters (1-1).
In the 6th minute of the extra time, Joao Victor stepped out with a ball from Bakti and converted the one-on-one opportunity from 12 meters (2-1). Thus, the teams did not go on a break with a draw.
DVSC started the 2nd half more actively, but did not have any clear-cut chances. In the 55th minute, Skribek hit the bar from a free-kick, then tried with a cross, but Ádám Varga performed a feat to deny his shot. Then, he made another huge save in the goal line to deny Csóka’s shot. Márk Szécsi and Djordje Gordic came on and then came the equalizer. In the 67th minute, Bárány Donát took a pass from Gundel-Takács and converted the one-on-one opportunity from 11 meters (2-2).
At the beginning of the endgame, ZTE took the lead again. Skribek made a great run to meet a cross from the left and headed the ball into the net from 4 meters. Ádám Varga could only punch it with his hand. Then, Gergő Tercza and Álex Bermejo made their debut in Loki (later, Gergő Regenyei as well) and our team tried to equalize again. In the 80th minute, Donát Bárány shot just wide off the goal, but in the 89th minute, he did not miss. After Botond Vajda’s great cross, he headed the ball into the left corner of the goal with a diving header (3-3). Thus, both teams earned one point at the end of the goal blitz.
The next match will be against MTK on Friday at Nagyerdei Stadium.
