On Friday evening, DVSC visited Puskás Akadémia, which occupied the second place on the table. Our team could not count on Neven Djurasek, who got injured during the game against MTK, as well as Bence Batik, Erik Kusnyir and Thor Úlfarsson, who were still on rehabilitation. DVSC made a tactical change: our team stood up with three centre-backs in order to prevent the home team from scoring. Márk Szécsi, Gergő Kocsis and Yacouba Silue got a place in the starting XI this time.
The match started with midfield play. Our team played in an organized way, preventing the home team from unfolding. DVSC led several promising attacks and the first smaller chance occurred in the 13th minute, when Meldin Dreskovic shot wide off the goal with a first touch from 16 meters. In the 23rd minute, Maceiras shot over the goal from long range, while in the 27th minute, Meldin Dreskovic had to clear from the goal-line after some turmoil within the box and Nissila’s attempt. Then, Balázs Megyeri saved the close-range shot of Plsek.
The play did not change in the final minutes of the first half. Brandon Domingues shot over the goal, but our team could restrain the opponent, so no goals were scored until the break.
The second half started with Duearte’s shot, but Balázs Megyeri performed a brilliant save. Puskás Akadémia increased the pressure and scored an offside goal, but our team handled it well. In the 51st minute, Yacouba Silue shot wide off the goal from a sharp angle on the right, then Márk Szécsi’s shot was blocked.
The battle intensified in the last half hour. Donát Bárány and Soma Szuhodovszki came on as substitutes, followed later by Botond Vajda. In the 68th minute, after a defensive bundler, Donát Bárány found himself in a scoring opportunity, but he shot over the goal. During the endgame, both teams tried to decide the match with a goal. In the 88th minute, Donát Bárány made a header, but the ball bounced off the post. However, in the 89th minute, the home team scored with Golla’s header, which bounced into the right corner of the goal. DVSC would have deserved at least one point.
According to the coach
Zsolt Hornyák: It was a very difficult match and our opponent made things hard for us. This was one of our most complicated games due to the tactics of DVSC. I was surprised that Loki came to Felcsút to defend. Fortunately, we were able to win in the end.
Csaba Máté: We arrived here after two defeats. We conceded 3 goals in both games, so our plan was to focus more on defence. As a result of this, Puskás had less chances than they usually do, and we also had a chance to score. At the end, the ball bounced off the post in case of our attack, while on the other side, it bounced into the net, but I don’t want to say that it was only because of luck. We have to work even harder. I feel sorry because we put a lot of work in this game, but we could not earn any point.
