As a new initiative, a series of events called “Match Day Festival” is being launched in connection with the home matches of DVSC (on weekends), but not only for football fans. This program is a collaboration between DVSC, Debreceni Campus Nonprofit Kft. and the participating municipalities of the Hajdú-Bihar county.
The aim of the initiative is to provide more and more opportunities for the participants and a range of programs for families, friends and supporters that can enhance the DVSC experience at Nagyerdő (Great Forest).
On the press conference on Tuesday, Balázs Makray, the managing director of DVSC Futball Zrt., said that the initiative is exemplary. He emphasized that from many aspects, DVSC lives in a symbiotic relationship with Campus Kft., and this relationship will become even closer by involving the county’s municipalities.
“On the days of the home matches of Loki, free buses will depart from all parts of the county to Nagyerdő, where there will be a festival mood, thanks to the Campus. We would like to build a community”, said Balázs Makray.
Zoltán Pajna, the President of the Hajdú-Bihar County Assembly, recalled that in the 70s and 80s, Nagyerdő was full hours before the matches, and it would be great to bring back that atmosphere. Starting this Saturday, on match days, fans and those looking for entertainment can come to Nagyerdő from 17 municipalities along eight routes. This service is free of charge for those who have a match-day ticket or a season pass, and it naturally includes the return trip as well.
Péter Miklósvölgyi, the CEO of Campus Kft., emphasized that this series of events is both an emotional and technical matter for them. It is both a task and an opportunity to deepen an already close relationship.
“Our goal is that during the next three years, at every home Loki match that falls on a Saturday or Sunday, we will wait visitors with colourful programs at Nagyerdő. These programs will start several hours before the matches. The Nagyerdei Water Tower will be able to accommodate a larger crowd of fans and the main focus will be on providing a genuine experience. No one should expect a miracle on Saturday, but rather recognize the beginning of a serious process that aims to engage every generation,” said Péter Miklósvölgyi.
Here are the details: DVSC and Debreceni Campus Nonprofit Kft. are going to organize mini festivals at two locations around Nagyerdei Stadium on the days of the home matches of DVSC. These mini festivals will be held at Red&White and the Water Tower and they will take place 3 hours before the game, starting this Saturday before the derby against Diósgyőr. At Red&White, there will be various games, a children’s playground, talk shows and VR games. What concerns the Fan Zone in the garden of the Water Tower, participants will have the opportunity to watch old Loki goals and matches, enjoy the music, meet the old and current players of DVSC, eat, drink and enjoy the special offers. For each match, there will be new surprises for the visitors. On match days, those who have a ticket or pass, will get a discount (25%) to enter Nagyerdei Kultúrpark (Great Forest Cultural Park). In the Water Tower, there will be special offers for visitors until 60 minutes before the game.
In fact, special Loki shuttle buses will operate for those with season tickets or match-day tickets before and after the matches, starting with the game against DVTK on August 17. These buses will run from eight directions within the county, providing free transportation to and from the match for the 220,000 residents of 24 municipalities along these eight routes, as long as they have a valid Loki match ticket or season pass. The buses will arrive at Nagyerdei Stadium two hours before the match, allowing travellers to enjoy some other activities besides the game (such as playgrounds, family day activities, the zoo, the bath, FanZone, etc.). The buses will depart 30 minutes after the match, thanks to the support of the Campus Festival.
Thus, with the active involvement of Debreceni Campus Nonprofit Kft., DVSC matches can become even more complete, more community-oriented, and more inclusive events.
