On Saturday afternoon, Loki entered the pitch, determined to win, at the home of the third-division Eger in the 3rd qualifying round of the MOL Hungarian Cup. Balázs Dzsudzsák and Balázs Megyeri were not playing this time and some players were out of the squad because of injury. In the starting eleven were Marko Milosevic, Zsombor Bévárdi, József Varga, Ádám Bódi, Hamzat Ojediran, Andrija Majdevic and János Ferenczi, who has already recovered from his injury.
A lot of supporters accompanied the team to the match, at the beginning of which DVSC tried to break through the defensive wall of Eger. Despite our dominance, Eger took the lead in the 10th minute: after a corner-kick, Balázs headed the ball into the net (1-0). Thus, we were in front of a big challenge, but we were not afraid to fight.
In the 20th minute, Oleksandr Romanchuk headed the ball across the pitch close to the opponent’s goal and Bévárdi almost scored. However, the equalizer came only in the 36th minute: after János Ferenczi’s cross, Brandon Domingues headed the ball into the right corner of the goal from 10 meters (1-1). No more goals were scored until the halftime.
At the beginning of the second half, we were trying to score again but without any success. In the 61st minute, Alexandros Kyziridis came on as a substitute and our team tried to increase the pace on the bumpy pitch. In the 72nd minute, Dusan Lagator missed a chance, then in the 74th minute, we hit the crossbar.
In the 81st minute, János Ferenczi headed over the goal, then Márk Szécsi, Stefan Loncar and Christian Manrique also came on as substitutes. In the 88th minute, after a corner-kick, Oleksandr Romanchuk headed the ball into the goal of Eger from close-range (1-2), so we qualified to the next round.
Loki won, so we will continue the championship on next Saturday at Diósgyőr.
