DVSC WILL HAVE A FOREIGN HEAD COACH

DVSC’s managing director, Balázs Makray and sporting director Ádám Bogdán held an end-of-season press conference on Thursday at Nagyerdei Stadium. Naturally, the recently concluded season — which saw the club secure qualification for European competition — as well as future plans were among the main topics discussed. Ádám Bogdán revealed that the club’s new head coach, who will arrive from abroad, could be announced within the next two weeks.

Balázs Makray stated that the club can look back on a successful season after achieving qualification for European competition.

“This championship was more competitive and balanced than the previous ones, and our objective is for DVSC to consistently compete on the European stage every year. We have come through a turbulent season, and in many ways it is almost remarkable that the team managed to deliver such a performance under these circumstances. A year ago, we secured our first division status in a dramatic finish to the season, but the vision outlined by the ownership group that emerged at that time, did not work. Last autumn, significant resources had to be mobilised to navigate the difficult period, and we would like to thank the local municipality and the Tranzit Group, among others, for their support. Since January, we have had a highly credible majority owner who, in complete alignment with the people of Debrecen, guarantees sustainable progress and a promising future for the club.

The credit for the season that has just concluded unquestionably belongs to Sergio Navarro and his coaching staff, as well as, naturally, our players. DVSC exceeded the league requirements both in terms of the youth development minutes quota and the domestic player regulations, fully meeting all expectations in these areas. In three of the last five seasons, a DVSC player has been named as the league’s Breakthrough Player of the Year — namely Péter Baráth, Botond Vajda and now Tamás Szűcs — which clearly demonstrates that Loki continues its long-standing tradition of providing outstanding opportunities for emerging young talents. Finally, it should also be highlighted that the club’s average home attendance surpassed 7,000 last season, following a 14-year record,” Balázs Makray concluded.

Ádám Bogdán emphasized that he is extremely proud to be the sporting director of DVSC.

“I have always seen this role as very interesting, as I was able to observe at close hand for more than a decade in England how effectively football operations can function at the highest level. Hungarian top-division football needs to reach a level where clubs are capable of competing successfully on the international stage — first and foremost, of course, Loki, a club with strong traditions in this regard as well. I envision a successful team built around homegrown players, and after six months, I can confidently say that everyone at the club is working together in excellent harmony. There is a strong possibility that within the next two weeks the identities of the new head coach and several new signings will also be revealed. As for Balázs Dzsudzsák, we can clearly say that we would like him to continue with the club,” said Ádám Bogdán.

Balázs Makray added that DVSC is working at full speed on appointing the club’s new head coach, as well as further strengthening the squad. The UEFA Conference League qualifying draw will take place on June 17, which is also when pre-season preparations will begin, while the team will head to a training camp in Austria at the end of June to prepare for the upcoming challenges.
