The Hungarian Football (MLSZ) has tightened its regulations: its new disciplinary code enforces zero tolerance for racist or discriminatory behaviour, including the use of racial insults towards gypsy people, in line with FIFA and UEFA practices and in accordance with the mandatory directive issued by FIFA in May 2025 to its member associations.
The immediate reason for tightening the disciplinary regulations is the FIFA circular issued on May 28, 2025. FIFA informed its 212 member associations that the organization’s stance against racism remains unchanged. According to the mandatory directive, all member countries must incorporate FIFA’s anti-racism provisions into their disciplinary codes with identical wording by December 31, 2025, at the latest.
During the 2025/2026 season, clubs whose supporters engage in racist or discriminatory behavior at matches — now including all forms of slurs towards gypsy people — can expect harsher penalties than before. Under the new regulations, disciplinary actions may include closing certain stadium sections or even ordering matches to be played behind closed doors.
According to the disciplinary code, it is forbidden to offend “the dignity or integrity of a country, a person, or a group of people on the basis of race, skin color, ethnic origin, nationality, social background, gender, disability, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or any other opinion, wealth, or birth.”
This means that if any violation happens during the first home match against MTK, the DVSC-Nyíregyháza match in the middle of August (already in the 4th round) or even the DVSC-FTC clash at the end of August, could potentially be played without spectators.
For this reason, our club kindly asks its supporters to strictly follow the MLSZ regulations. Thus, the major matches of the summer can be true football celebrations in Debrecen!
